Weston Resident Catherine Nicholson Receives The Parmenter Foundation’s Annual Grace Johnson Volunteer Appreciation Award
Catherine Nicholson, a resident of Weston, is the 2016 recipient of The Parmenter Foundation’s Grace Johnson Volunteer Appreciation Award. Cathie is a long-term volunteer at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence who has donated countless hours of her time to those in need. Cathie provides vigils, friendly visits, food preparation for patients and their families in hospice. She has also been a counselor and cabin monitor at Camp Erin Boston since its inception.
Michael Halloran, Executive Director of The Parmenter Foundation says, “Cathie is a richly deserving recipient of the Grace Johnson Volunteer Appreciation Award as she is not only an incredibly committed hospice and Camp Erin Boston volunteer, but has also been an active member of the Parmenter Board of Directors and continues to actively solicit donations to support hospice and Camp Erin. Her commitment to our organization is vital and we are grateful to her.”
The Grace Johnson Volunteer Appreciation Award
The Parmenter Foundation created the Grace Johnson Volunteer Appreciation Award in 2005 to recognize individuals who demonstrate the commitment to volunteering that Grace Johnson embodied. Grace and Bob Johnson raised their family in Wayland, MA. In addition to her duties at home, Grace shared her caring and compassionate gifts with her community. She volunteered countless hours to several organizations, causes and activities including: The Friends of Hospice; The Parmenter VNA Board of Directors; and she was a Friendly Visitor to a frail elder in Wayland. Grace set a very high standard for community volunteering. Grace’s husband Bob and their daughter, Anne Evans attended the Volunteer Luncheon in her honor.
