Several years after her mother died, Marty Ragones joined the Parmenter Board of Trustees. She had been reflecting on her loss and came to a conclusion. “I felt there could have been better preparation—and more personal discussion—at the time,” Marty recalls. “Being on the Parmenter board would help me think about that, talk about it and help others when life gets hard.”
That was 15 years ago. Today, Marty serves on Parmenter’s Finance Committee and plays a key leadership role. “Our projects, such as UGrieve and the recent Will Reeve event, are substantial, worthy and fill important gaps,” she notes. “We pride ourselves on the grants we provide to quality organizations and programs.”
She and her husband, Emil Ragones, are loyal, committed donors—members of the Leadership Giving Society who, for 20 years, have generously supported a range of initiatives. Marty emphasizes that fundraising has become more important at The Parmenter Foundation. “We want to expand, and we want to grow,” she says.
“Why do we give? It’s because we’re aware of all the people who have been helped by Parmenter directly or by a service made possible because of Parmenter. We know there are caring folks at Parmenter who, when life gets hard, can help you find the right path.”
